How we research

Sources, in order

1. Manufacturer size charts, product pages and installation instructions, with the date we read them.
2. Building and pet-safety facts (door frame sizes, mesh materials, magnet safety for small children) from official or standards-body sources where they exist.
3. Manufacturer specifications and instructions from the brand's own site, then the product listing, with the date read.
4. State unsecured-load statutes, quoted from the state code.

Spec-based reviews

We do not claim to have lived with a product unless we say exactly how. A review explains the published size and the door it fits, the mesh material, the magnet and closure design, the mounting method, and how it compares with alternatives on the same specs. If a spec is missing or inconsistent across a listing, we say so rather than guess.

Dates and corrections

Each guide shows when it was last updated. Specs and listings change; tell us at contact and we post fixes on the corrections page.
